Canon: The Vampire Diaries
Original or Alternate Universe: Original
Canon Point: Season 3, Episode 7 (Ghost World)
Number: 162 (Because I am that mean)
Setting: The Vampire Diaries is predominately set against the backdrop of the town of Mystic Falls, a supernatural hot-spot it seems for Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Hybrids, Ghosts and yes, more than one set of Doppelgangers. The series follows the highs, lows, and supernatural misadventures of a group of people who have found themselves, intrinsically linked as they face and fight all that comes with being a part of this world.
History: As a character who died in the same episode that she was introduced, there is very little known about Lexi's life when you consider that she was 352 when Damon staked her. Thankfully, through the magical mishaps of Mystic Falls' resident Witch and the occasional flashback sequence, we learn a great deal about the kind of life that Lexi has led since she first met Stefan back in 1864.
N.B. Lexi's bio on the TVD Wikia does make references to an unnamed brother, a former occupation and several other people in her life but it should be noted that this was taken from 'The Stefan Diaries', a spin-off of books from the original novels the Television Series is based on. This application does not cover anything that happened within the books as I am playing Lexi as TV!Verse.
1864
It was by chance that Stefan and Lexi would come together, a newly turned Stefan mistaking her for human and attempting to attack her as she walked the streets alone at night. With sunrise coming soon and Lexi in need of shelter, as unlike the Salvatore Brothers, she did not (and notably still doesn't) possess a daylight ring, Stefan invited her back to the home he shared with his brother.
The moment she enters and sees the discarded, torn up bodies that lay around like garbage, Lexi accuses Stefan of being a 'Ripper'. She immediately takes it upon herself to fix him, to show him what it can truly mean to be a Vampire. The last we see of Lexi at this time, is a brief conversation between her and Damon. Before he leaves his brothers side, he asks Lexi to take care of him.
1922
As far as we know, this is the first time that Stefan has fallen off the wagon since Lexi first saved him almost sixty years ago. She comes back into his life to provide some of her tough love after Stefan lost himself in 1912 (With Damon) and continued down this path with an era of indulgence at the sides of Klaus & Rebekah Mikaelson, (A friendship that has been at this time, forgotten by Stefan thanks to Klaus's compulsion).
It would take more than ten years for Stefan to get himself off of human blood but Lexi remains with him in Mystic Falls, once again picking up the pieces and helping him to get back to the Stefan she became friends with and it is suggested that she remains at his side for the decade after she gets him back on track, right up until the beginning of World War II.
1942
As part of Lexi's attempt to help Stefan to build a stronger foundation for his life as a Vampire, she accompanies him to New Orleans in the hopes of getting him to make peace with his brother. Stefan is set to go to war, a way for him to do good again and attempt to make up for the lives he has taken during the 'Ripper' stages of his life.
When the first meeting ends with Damon's companion (A Vampire who was sired to Damon) takes the life of a man for touching Damon's drink, it's clear that Lexi has her concerns. When Damon announces that he intends to go to War with Stefan, Lexi pulls him aside and informs him that she knows about the twelve people he has just killed. Putting Stefan first (in her mind) she tells him that he cannot go, that his actions and attitudes will be the very thing to set Stefan back on the path to becoming a 'Ripper' again, even reminding him what happened the last time he and Stefan were together.
In the end, Damon agrees and goes his way, allowing Stefan to go off to war and Lexi to slip away for another 35 years.
1977
Lexi and Damon would meet again during one of the hottest summers in New York history, set against a backdrop of underground punk rock and the Summer of Sam. At Stefan's behest (apparently coming from Mystic Falls) and after hearing of Damon's less that savory exploits with his humanity set to the 'Off' position, Lexi will track Damon down and spend the next six months giving the elder Salvatore the 'Lexi Special'.
During this time, the two indulged in blood and alcohol, a far different method of rehabilitation that we have seen from her with Stefan but every night, when the fun has been had and the crowds returned home, she would try and force Damon to talk about Katherine, trying to get him to feel something - anything again so that he might turn his humanity back on. During this time, Lexi's feelings for Damon grew and whilst she had been trying to make him feel again, she would be the one who ended up falling for him.
In a cruel twist, one of these nights where she was trying to get him to open up, Damon claims that he doesn't want to talk about Katherine because she's not the one he's in love with. He confesses his supposed feelings for Lexi, who believes that he has in fact turned his humanity back on and the two spend the night together, ending up on the roof of the club they had been partying in.
The next morning, Lexi would awake to the sun burning her skin and when she tries to retreat, she discovers the door that leads to the safety of darkness has been reinforced. Damon taunts Lexi for trying to 'fix' him and the two part ways on a very bitter note.
It is made perfectly clear (the next time we see them together) that any good Lexi once saw in Damon from the time he asked her to take care of Stefan has now vanished and this will be a grudge that she holds against him for the next forty years. It is never stated whether this is something that either Damon or Lexi have told Stefan about.
1987
We learn through conversations that Lexi and Stefan would try and come together at least once a year to celebrate his birthday and one such memorable occasion happened in the late eighties, the two of them going to a Bon Jovi concert together and ending up partying with the singer and his band afterwards. Though neither are aware of it at the time, Katherine will also be at this concert, watching the two Best Friends.
Some Time Before Stefan's 162nd Birthday
Though little is known about this time from Lexi's point of view, it is known that Lexi spent a great deal of it in Georgia where she became friends with a Witch by the name of Bree, and fell in love with a Human (whom she tells Elena about on Stefan's Birthday), called Lee. Lexi tells Elena that Lee had trouble at first coming to terms with who and what Lexi was but in the end, his love for her was stronger than his aversion to her being a Vampire and Lexi changed him in order for them to spend the rest of their 'lives' together.
It is also worth noting that some time in the last century, Lexi became friends with Rose, a Vampire who had been on the run from Klaus for centuries. Lexi even tried to set Rose up with Stefan but Rose tells Elena that she always preferred the Bad Boys (Damon).
The Death of Lexi Branson
Lexi makes a surprise return to Mystic Falls on the day of Stefan's 162nd Birthday, intent on spending the day with her best friend, as they claimed she has done many times over the years. It's clear that she still has issues with Damon and at this point in the series, Lexi is the first and only Vampire we see who has the physical upper hand where the elder Salvatore is concerned.
Her intense dislike of Damon comes only second to her fealty to Stefan, the two catching up on all she has missed as Lexi questions Stefan's motivations in returning to Mystic Falls after all these years. He tells her about Elena and Lexi it seems, is okay with that seeing as the yet to be met, Miss Gilbert is not the Katherine she has only heard about through Stefan.
Until Elena makes a surprise visit to Stefan and Lexi discovers that Elena and Katherine, could be twins. Her surprise is obvious and Lexi wastes no time grilling her best friend over the human who bears an uncanny resemblance to his Ex, Lexi's concerns only assuaged by Stefan's assurances that the only thing she and Katherine share, is their appearance.
At Damon's urging (and manipulation) Lexi and Stefan attend The Grill that night where Lexi has a chance to talk with Elena again. As stated earlier, Lexi tells Elena about Lee and even encourages the young woman to give Stefan a shot. She spends her evening partying with Stefan and accusing Damon of being up to no good but the first part of the night at least, is rather uneventful.
Which of course means that it's time for things to take a turn for the worse. After Damon attacks somebody in an alleyway and compels another, Sheriff Forbes enters the grill and goes straight for Lexi when the surviving victim points her out in the bar. Lexi is injected with vervain and dragged outside where she's able to recover enough to turn on the deputies that had taken her. There is a hail of wooden bullets as Lexi moves in on her attackers but in the end, it is Damon who will slide in and drive a stake through her chest.
If the look on her face is anything to go by, she never saw it coming, asking him 'why' in her dying moments as a hidden Elena and Stefan look on in horror.
The Other Side
Though Lexi is only alive for one episode of season one and only makes one other appearance in corporeal form at her canon point (as opposed to through flashbacks), it is suggested that Lexi has been watching over Stefan from the other side.
Though it can't be expected that she has seen everything that has happened in his life, she would at least know a good deal of what he went through in her absence, including the discovery that Katherine is alive, the tomb of Vampires, their dealings with the Originals and Stefan's spiral that begins when Damon is bitten by a Werewolf and Stefan agrees to remain at Klaus' side in order to save his brother's life.
We do not physically see Lexi again however, until a spell cast by Bonnie to keep Vicki on the other side goes awry and the dead who found themselves around Mystic Falls are once again able to use this to take physical form.
With Stefan's humanity set to off, the timing couldn't be better for Elena who is desperate to find a way to get the Stefan she knows and loves back. With little time on their hands, Lexi gives Elena a crash course in Ripper!Detox 101. She uses her abilities (we can at least assume something similar to dream manipulation, though Lexi is able to do this while Stefan is awake), to make Stefan feel as if he hasn't fed for days, weeks, months and even years, Lexi trying to provoke him in order to get him to feel again. Every time he lashes out or even begs Elena to save him, Lexi remains strong, telling Elena when she's seeing the Ripper talking and not the Stefan she knows.
Time is fast running out however, especially with the tomb Vampires back from the dead and stringing people up in Founders Square and Lexi is unable to finish helping before the window to the other side is closed, sending her and all the other ghosts back to being silent witnesses on the Other Side. Before she disappears, Lexi urges Elena to have faith and promises her that Stefan is still in there, it's just going to take time.
Personality: Of all the Vampires we meet in The Vampire Diaries, Lexi Branson is perhaps the one who is most at ease with who and what she is. Not the kind of person to get hung up on the mistakes of her past, Lexi appears to live in the now, constantly evolving over the centuries so that she never seems out of place in any decade she finds herself in. She's only too aware of the drawbacks in being a Vampire but rather than suppress and brood like one of her closest companions, Lexi faces the difficulties of bloodlust and heightened emotions with intelligence and forethought, whilst never forgetting to have fun along the way.
She has fun with her abilities, using her compulsion to get away without showing ID or to get herself free drinks. The casual manner in which she does this in 162 Candles suggests that Lexi makes a habit of it, even using her strength to playfight with Stefan and though she might loathe the comparison to Damon, the two do share the ability to kick back and drink a blood bag like it's a perfectly acceptable practice.
It's not all fun and games however. She understands that her survival hinges on the fact that who and what she is, remains a secret. She survived centuries as a Vampire by being careful and yet, she doesn't allow this to interfere with her ability to enjoy her life - or rather, unlife. The kind of person who uses humor and sarcasm to lighten any subject, Lexi won't dance around the more difficult or sensitive topics. She's always on hand with a Come To Jesus talk and is somebody you expect to show up in a person's time of need, even if it's to show a little tough love.
It may be hidden behind an exterior of snark that sees her claim to revel in hedonism but Lexi truly cares about others, giving much of herself in order to help those who have fallen down. She doesn't even know Stefan when as a young Vampire, he mistakes her for a human and tries to attack her and yet, she stays with him and teaches him how to learn and practise control, returning to his side over the next century every time he stumbles. Even death it seems, cannot stop Lexi from being there for Stefan.
Despite the pessimistic flavored attitude she throws around, Lexi has been shown to be the eternal optimist; believing Stefan can stay clean, get the girl, be happy. Believing that she can help Damon the same way she helped his brother, all because she saw the good in him when they first met and again, in Season Four when she talks with Ric about finding peace in death. Not only is she an optimist, but she clearly believes in the possibility of true love and redemption.
Unlike some Vampires who appear to have withdrawn from society, separating themselves from humans, Lexi seems to be more comfortable in their presence. She fell in love with one after all (Lee), eventually turning him so that they might spend an eternity together. Her friendship with Bree, a Witch who also dies at the hand of Damon (all because she was seeking revenge for his killing Lexi), another example, along with the fact that she encouraged Elena to give Stefan a chance. Perhaps it's just the hopeless romantic that hides beneath the surface? Why should a little thing like mortality get in the way of happiness? She believes in great and epic loves and that as a Vampire, you aren't destined for just one, but a lifetime of love, loss, happiness and pain.
An unashamed meddler, especially when it comes to Stefan, Lexi doesn't have any problems sticking her nose into his (and probably other people's) business, feeling her best friend sometimes needs a nudge in what Lexi believes to be the right direction sometimes, playing matchmaker in the past and present with Rose, Elena and later in Season 4, with Caroline. Stefan's response every time hints that this isn't the first, and likely not the last time she's done it.
She appears to be good at reading people and yet, emotion and a desire to believe that people can change and grow has been her downfall more than once, even resulting in her death at the hands of Damon. She had the ability to recognize that he was up to something, but underestimated how far he would go in order to achieve whatever goal he had.
Though it is later revealed that Lexi's death was in part a result of what Damon felt seeing her again after what happened between them in the seventies, it hardens Lexi towards him in her afterlife. Not simply because he killed her, but because he betrayed her for a second time. She doesn't hate him however, she merely seems to have wiped her hands of him for good. She's had the opportunity to kill him when magical means allowed her to manifest in the physical realm, but it would hurt Stefan, showing that revenge isn't high on Lexi's list of priorities.
If anything, dying has made Lexi appreciate the moments when she gets to live even more, something that coming to ship will allow her to truly embrace. It's an opportunity for her to make up for all the time she has lost with Stefan, where she can say all the things she wanted to say whilst forced to stand on the sidelines, an invisible witness to everything that has happened in Mystic Falls.
This invisibility will also give her an advantage, Lexi aware of all the players involved in Stefan's life while they may not know who she is. As far as we know, she managed to avoid crossing paths with The Originals so though she might get a target painted on her chest simply by being Stefan's best friend? It wouldn't have been the first time it's happened and it would never be enough to see her abandon him.
Her arrival will also force Lexi to stay put in one place for a length of time, something that goes against her nomadic nature. From conversations with Stefan, it's clear she doesn't believe in getting stuck in one place for too long and yet in the grand scheme of things, it's a very small price to pay for being alive (at least alive in the Vampire sense). Besides, as a ghost she wasn't forced to remain in Mystic Falls and yet from her many reappearances since her death, it's fairly obvious that death has helped Lexi to see that wherever Stefan is, is exactly where she wants to be.
Stefan's evolution as a Vampire is in many ways, one of Lexi's greatest achievements. He was responsible for getting through his addiction to blood and coming out the other side, but she was the one who molded him, who helped him to embrace the good and separate himself from the bad. She is his greatest champion, even willing to come between the brothers if it means protecting Stefan, something she's seen to do many times throughout flashbacks in the series.
As much as she has helped Stefan to better himself, Stefan's restraint (even if it borders on self-flagellation) does make Lexi look like the reckless one at his side and a part of her even envies him for his self-control. Not enough to change her ways however, but certainly enough for her to respect it. She's seen Stefan during his darkest hours, in her life and death and though she wants nothing more than for him to really start enjoying his life, she would rather have the Stefan she knows than try and change him in anyway.
Abilities, Weaknesses and Power Limitations:
As a Vampire in The Vampire Diaries, Lexi has the same strengths and weaknesses as any other Vampire who is neither an Original or Hybrid. The following are aspects of her abilities that are specific to Lexi and seen in Canon.
As a 352 (at time of death) Vampire who lives on Human blood, she is stronger than those who are younger than her.
Without a daylight ring, her skin will burn up in the sun and long term exposure will kill her.
Similar to Katherine's Dream Manipulations, Lexi has been shown to have the ability to make people believe and feel things that are not in fact real. During the Episode of Ghost World (Se03Ep07) She used this ability to make Stefan feel as if he had not fed for more than a decade. It is unclear as to whether this is an ability she possessed as a Vampire or something that manifested when she was a Ghost. It could in theory be the latter because as a Ghost, we see Lexi able to walk in the sun.
For a more detailed breakdown of all the Vampire Abilities and Weaknesses that Lexi possess, please refer to her Permissions Post. It should be noted that most of this has been taken from (and credited to) The Vampire Diaries Wikia.
For the purposes of Ataraxion, Lexi would need to take on a corporeal form. For ease and continuity, I had intended that she would be a Vampire again, just as she had been before her death in Season One. As I am unaware of any limitations of other TVD Vampires within the game, I would like to defer to you for guidance in terms of any nerfing that may occur so that it would be in line with her canon-mates.
Inventory:
[x] One Black Leather Jacket
[x] One Grey Fitted Shirt with Decal on Front
[x] One pair of Denim Jeans (Fitted)
[x] One pair of Black Leather Boots
[x] One Blood Bag (Human Blood: Type AB-)
[x] One Bendy Straw
N.B. It should be noted that Lexi does not possess a Daylight Ring, however, IF it is possible for Lexi to receive any objects that she never possessed in Canon? I would love for her to have a Daylight Ring (or in her case, a bracelet) on the chance that a mission might come up involving, well, ya know, the sun being a thing.
[x] One Lapis Lazuli & Silver Daylight Bracelet
Appearance: PB: Arielle Kebbel
Lexi's style has evolved with the times, the blonde Vampire never appearing out of place in whatever decade we have seen her in. She appears to favor leather jackets and jeans and one could say that she takes pride in her appearance, taking the time to put on make-up before heading out for a night of drinking with Stefan. Her long hair is naturally blonde though has changed depending on what is in fashion throughout her time as a Vampire.
She has no discernible markings that we can see and like all Vampires, when she feeds her face transforms, the veins around her eyes becoming more pronounced as blood pools around her irises.
Age: 21 at the time she was turned. 352 at the time she was killed. 354 if you include her time on the other side.

Log Sample: {This is a sample that was originally used in an application for another game and is admittedly rather specific to that games setting. I'm using it however because I feel it shows Lexi's mindset in regards to certain canon-mates already in Ataraxion and also explores some of her feelings in relation to being 'alive' again. Her experience, were she to be accepted in Ataraxion, would of course be very different but I believe it still gives a good general idea of her motivations as a character. I can always put together something new should this not suffice!}
From the casual way that Lexi descended the stairs of the Salvatore Boarding House - The Bar, not the house, you could be mistaken in thinking that she'd been in Teleios all along, that her name was on the deed of the bar that she now walked behind, lifting a bottle of Whiskey from the shelf as if it belonged to her. Lexi had a knack for making herself at home, especially when home was owned by the Salvatores. In Stefan's case, she knew she was welcome. In Damon's case? She just didn't care.
It had been a few weeks since arriving in Teleios and though there were more than a few drawbacks, animal blood diet at the top of that list, it sure beat the hell out of being a ghost. She could stomach a little pigs blood until alternative arrangements could be made so long as Stefan could actually feel it when she slapped him upside the head. A chance to slap Damon around never hurt either, though she preferred he just stay out of her way while she was here. How's that saying go? Kill me once, shame on you? Kill me twice? She didn't intend to let it get that far.
Lexi had wasted far too much time trying to believe in the possibility of good in Damon and despite his attempts to change over the last year or two, she still saw him as a lost cause. Damon wasn't trying to change for himself. He changed in order to steal his brothers girl. She should have staked him years ago. Stefan would have been upset but he would have been better off for it in the long run. Damon was just lucky that Lexi loved Stefan more than she hated his brother. To be fair? He did kill her, so her disdain was warranted in her mind.
Hoisting herself up onto the bar, she took the pourer off the bottle, taking a deep drink without so much as cringing, her feet swinging casually over the edge as she leaned back, taking in the what passed for locals. Stefan had brought her up to date, a whole mess of supernatural beings with humans sprinkled into the mix. It bugged the hell out of her that she could no sooner pick a werewolf from a daisy via scent, but she'd get that back with time. Senses, healing, compulsion, speed, strength, a damn daylight ring? She was going to end up needing a whole lot of favors if she planned to get some normalcy going for herself but when you considered the alternative? Lexi could hardly complain.
The itch to keep moving would eventually go away, she had over eighty thousand years to kill in this place after all and it helped that despite all the crazy they had going on here? Teleios was like a vacation compared to Mystic Falls. Stefan was better off here and Lexi was better off wherever Stefan was.
She took another deep swill of Whiskey, feeling the hot spot at the back of her throat cool, the one that hungered for blood, that throbbed at the mere sight of a beating pulse. She really had to do something about this diet of theirs. Stefan might have been the Captain of Restraint but Lexi actually enjoyed being a Vampire, human blood and all.
Comms Sample:
[When the feed begins, the blonde whose face appears in the center of the screen makes no attempt to speak immediately, seeming to be thinking about something with her lips pulled into a bow, her eyes narrowing infinitesimally as they look off screen before snapping onto the camera itself.]
I have to admit. [Her face animated as she starts to speak, accompanied by a dry, almost snarky tone.] I was all ready to pin this on the little Witch but this seems a little too SciFi for anything that comes out of Mystic Falls.
[It's hard to say whether she's annoyed, bored or amused, the woman who can't look much more than early twenties giving very little away as she hums quietly, her gaze wandering off.]
Right - [Refocusing on her screen.] Introductions then. I'm Lexi. That's all you get for now but if you can point me in the direction a fifty year old scotch or a place I can get underwear I might be willing to tell you more.
[She pauses, then answers the question before it can even be asked of her.]
I'm more lace than standard issue black

Log Sample: {This is a sample that was originally used in an application for another game and is admittedly rather specific to that games setting. I'm using it however because I feel it shows Lexi's mindset in regards to certain canon-mates already in Ataraxion and also explores some of her feelings in relation to being 'alive' again. Her experience, were she to be accepted in Ataraxion, would of course be very different but I believe it still gives a good general idea of her motivations as a character. I can always put together something new should this not suffice!}
